Méné about No Border

Born in 1977 in Côte d’Ivoire and gratuate from Abidjan Fine Arts School, Mene was influenced by cave painting and choosed this medium as his preferred way of expression even though he uses different materials and substances for creating unique paintings. He already exposed in Côte d’Ivoire, France and Spain.

Expo ‘ No Border ‘ jusqu’au 1er juillet à la LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery

Leading through the exhibition No Border, Mene reminds us that the human being is imperfect and consequently that humanity is imperfect.

« My work is initially inspired by the art of caves. Prehistoric men worked in caves and I loved this art when I was in the fine arts school. The expressivity of this art led me to work on this art, so I choosen this theme for my fourth year of studies. Then, I continued to develop and exploit this element in my work. People in my works have sometimes both eyes. I show the imperfection of being. We are always in search of perfection. »

Later, he explains that this exhibition pushes the technical frontiers of artistic expression. Indeed, it reminds us that today contemporary art is no longer formatted as it could be in the past centuries when a single current dominated during a precise period. Today everything is possible with technology, the supports, the substances and the essence of the work of art.

« The exhibition is « No Border « , which gathers two writings that grow and have no borders. We show that art has no limits, especially at the technical level. Today, I work on tarps that I recover, these are things that we do not have before, but now we are bold … we go beyond these borders. And with Leslie, which excels in figurative art, these are two opposing techniques, but at the same time they do not stop us from being together. We did an installation, we worked together, it was friendly.  »

Finally, he shared his personal joy by realizing a dream of youth: making an exhibition at LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery.

« LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery is a young boy dream … I knew the Gallery when it was Arts Pluriels … we were very young. We were in high school and we arrived at the openings art exhibitions… we watched… we dreamed… And today we’re back! It’s strange… it’s warm in the heart… I’d say it’s a dream that come true. »
